Rudolf Valentino Bostic (b. 1944), paints vibrant mythical, biblical and popular cultural images in enamel or house paint on scraps of cardboard. As a young boy he made his own toys to entertain himself, and in his later teen years he was asked to do some paintings for his local church. He did this using the available and affordable materials that were at hand (house paint and cardboard). The smooth surface suited his self-taught technique, and so he continues to paint on cardboard today. He is collected and shown at galleries in Washington D.C., Gainesville, Florida, and Chapel Hill, North Carolina, and elsewhere.
